Located in the vicinity of one of the most important rivers inside Iran, Karoun River, Ahvaz is the capital of Khuzestan province which is located in the south-western part of the country. Although Ahvaz is one of the most active and industrial cities of Iran, regards to the oil and refinery industries, it is embracing many brilliant evidences which are demonstrating the historical pioneer of this highlighted Iranian city. Some historians do believe that the first foundations of Ahvaz has been formed within the Achaemenid dynasty while it’s proved that the major restorations of the city have been done within Sassanid dynasty by the order of Ardeshir I, one of the most powerful kings of that age, in order to used as a major trade center of Iran.

Ahvaz is now possessing suitable tourism facilities to render different types of services to those who are willing to travel to this city. Although it’s not the hottest city in Iran, it has a deserted climate which means really hot summers and mild winters while it often subjects to sand & dust storms.
